Bonobos Spring ’15 Presentation

Soho, Dune Studios
Bonobos Spring ’15 Presentation

I always love attending the Bonobos presentations. They always feel like warm, intimate, personal affairs rather than perfunctory, clinical fashion shows. The spring showing took place a stone’s throw away from my apartment in Soho at Dune studios with stellar models, some covet worthy pieces, hors d’Oeuvres and beer, wine and cocktails. Now that’s my idea of showing. As per usual, my favorite person in the room was PR rep Erin Grant who always keeps me fully up to date on the brand and all the ways they are refining it. This spring they are doing great things with knitwear, so much so that I really wanted to get a singular shot of the model sporting my favorite sweater and was fortunate to get Erin in the shot as well. I really enjoyed how pared down all the looks were with hints of details whether it be suede fabrication, Nike kicks, pops of color, flashes of print, a pocket square in a denim jacket or taking a lightweight piece and mixing it with a heavier layering piece. Suffice it to say, even though fall just began, spring can’t get here fast enough.

Flashback Friday: Crisp White Tee

Flashback Friday: Crisp White Tee SoHo
Blue Ribbon

With all this talk of a Polar Vortex engulfing much of the U.S. and Canada, I’m reminded of simpler days of the summer where the only layer you need is a solid tee. A simple, classic white t-shirt is a wardrobe staple. I like the way he pairs it with blue chinos, blue vans and even his bike is blue. I noticed him right outside Blue Ribbon restaurant right up the street from my apartment last summer. Look close and you can see my reflection in the glass.

Ink For Two

Ink For Two

West Village
Christopher and Gay St.

I’m so down for this couple and all their tattoos. To me they are dressed sort of preppy and clean cut, but their dual ink gives their look so much edge and versatility.

OBEY Flying Lotus T-Shirt

OBEY Flying Lotus T-Shirt

West Chelsea
10th Ave. and 26th St.

OBEY Clothing is the street wear label created by fine artist/graphic designer Shepard Fairey, who illustrated the infamous “Hope” poster of president Barack Obama. I see his logo on guys all over New York, usually on skater guys wearing OBEY hats.  I was happy to come across a guy wearing the label’s flying lotus tee, as it’s one of my favorite designs of the label.
