Suit and Shorts

TriBeCa
Hudson and Leonard St.

I passed by menswear designer Thom Browne’s store in TriBeCa and noticed this worker inside and was thrilled to see him a second time a few hours later out on the street as I was running errands in the neighborhood. For anyone unfamiliar with the design and aesthetic of Thom Browne, he’s known for his suits in grey palette which tend to be shrunken or very fitted to the body. The designer himself is ubiquitously known for sporting a suit with pants where the hem reveals a lot of ankle or shorts such as this employee who acts as a model for the modern Mad Men twist of the label.

Red Tie

Red Tie

SoHo
6th Avenue and Spring St.

I love a splash of red in a suit ensemble, but only in the form of a tie or a pocket square. Ok a red watch band or bracelet would suffice as well.

Perfect Part

Lower Manhattan

The precision and execution of a well done side part is a thing to behold. Not everyone is destined for the side part, but for those can, please do.

Well Suited

Well Suited

SoHo
Broome and Thompson St.

A polka dot tie and a pinstripe suit make for one of my favorite combos. I think a suit should be well tailored yet playful as this guy demonstrates.

Men in Black

Men in Black

Nolita
Prince and Mulberry St.

I couldn’t resist the play on words as it seemed to be very apropos. I found these two to be quite identical yet very individual at the same time. Just goes to show that no matter how uniform a look, each guy can make it his own.

Nipped In The Waist

Nipped In The Waist

Midtown
8th Ave. and 33rd St.

The way this guy’s belt is snatched firmly at his mid-section really accentuates his V-shape body type. The belt seems to be not only used to hold pants in place but to show off his waist.  Love his details – the gold watch, slim fit pants, horizontal striped tie, tie bar, rolled up sleeves and shades. He looks cool and professional at the same time.

Pop of Color

Pop of Color

Midtown
Park Ave and 46th St.

This is a pretty sharp grey suit with a pop of color from the tie, held together by his tie bar and finished off with a white pocket square. He looks like he’s brown bagging it for lunch. Now this is how you do lunch people. Take note
