Tanked

Tanked
NoMad
5th Avenue and 27th St.

And we’re off! The summer has officially become hot and humid and that means tank tops are making the rounds heavily on the streets. This actually a modest version as lately I’ve come to see some tanks that are a lot more revealing and showy. As the summer progresses, I’m sure I’ll stumble upon a wide array of tanks.

Chrystie and Houston St.

The competition was pretty fierce among these two. It was fun watching them try and kick each other’s asses. The trash talking was hilarious as well. For the sake of diplomacy, I won’t reveal who was the better player or who scored more points. I’ll leave that between the three of us.

Chrystie St. Courts

The Basketball courts at Sara Delano Roosevelt Park are a great place to watch pick up games. Street ball in the city is a classic New York staple. Although these courts aren’t as intense and competitive as the West Fourth Courts (The Cage) in the Village, they have their own flavor and attract a more playful, neighborhood vibe.

Tank Season

Flatiron
5th Ave. and 22nd St.

Now that the temperatures are spiking in the city, I’m confident that I’ll be taking a lot of pictures with guys in tank tops. But not all tanks are good tanks and some guys can pull them off better than others. Here is one such case of a good tank. Simple, classic, not too showy.
