World Trade Center
I happened upon this builder on the World Trade Center site having a smoke all by his lonesome while hundreds of people scurried around directly in front of him walking to and fro the entrance of the eternally busy New Jersey Path Train station which he sat right in front of. The contrast was interesting. In a sea of people, he was an island unto himself. I was one of those people, dodging the rush of the crowds to capture his image.
I like the fact that although he works in a somewhat hazardous outdoor environment, he still manages to enact a cool look with his scarf, slim fitted pants, dark specs, stubble and of course sometimes a cigarette in one hand adds to the cool factor. Most laborers who work down at that site are your typical outer borough, salt-of-the-earth types, so once again, he displays more individuality.
